Successful Implementation Approach
A formal implementation strategy is an essential component of any successful BIM deployment and must go well beyond a simple training and roll-out schedule. It should address the workflow and organisational changes inherent to adoption of BIM principles whilst remaining sensitive to the unique balance of people, skills and culture.
Personnel
The choice of team members for an initial proof-of-concept can have a dramatic influence on success
Timing
Having the best team in the world trained to the highest level is immaterial if project commencement is several months after the training sessions
Support and Mentoring
Whilst classroom training provides an overview of the product and its basic principles, the team will receive much of the instruction and advice through project-based mentoring and master-classes
Project Type and Size
Whilst the style and complexity of a particular building may be within the limitations of the software, its suitability as a trial project may be questioned.
Project Timeline
New technology can often bring about dramatic time savings, but allowance must be made for a learning curve
Deliverables and Expectations
The primary driver behind the adoption of new technology can be either to enhance speed and efficiency of the current practices or to add new deliverables to your products and services
